May 5, 2022. Tri-City Extrusion, Inc. (TCE) officials announced today the company will invest $30.8 million to expand its manufacturing operations in Northeast Tennessee.
TCE will create 51 new jobs as the company increases capacity and constructs a new 120,500-square-foot facility at the Bristol Business Park, a Select Tennessee Certified Site.
Due to an increase in customer demand, TCE’s Sullivan County expansion will strengthen production and allow the company to upgrade its manufacturing equipment. Once completed, TCE’s new facility will house a brand new 14-inch, 5,550-ton press and adequate space for product distribution.
Established in 1987, Tri-City Extrusion specializes in the production of precision aluminum extrusions in hollow and solid profiles for a variety of market applications. With the addition of the new positions, TCE will employ nearly 200 people in Bristol.
In the last five years, TNECD has supported 45 economic development projects in the Northeast Tennessee region, resulting in roughly 4,200 job commitments and $1.1 billion in capital investment.
“Our highly skilled workforce and strong business climate make Tennessee the ideal location for companies to thrive. I thank Tri-City Extrusion for creating more than 50 new manufacturing positions to ensure opportunity for Tennesseans in Sullivan County.” – Gov Bill Lee
“When a company like Tri-City Extrusion expands in Tennessee, it is not only a testament to our state’s ideal location and affordable cost of doing business, but also to the community the company calls home. Bristol and Sullivan County have taken the steps needed to allow this company to grow and expand, and we look forward to seeing TCE continue to flourish.” – TNECD Commissioner Bob Rolfe
“When we considered a major expansion, one of the primary components was location, location, location. Tri-City Extrusion searched the southern district of Virginia and the Tri-Cities area for the ideal site. We selected the Bristol Business Park, not only for the location, but because of the cooperation the City of Bristol, Bristol Essential Services, the Sullivan County and the State of Tennessee demonstrated during our search to bring more than 50 full time jobs to the area. This is a huge investment for TCE, and we are gratified to have fantastic partners and employees to make this project a reality.” – Fred Vermeer, president and CEO, Tri-City Extrusion, Inc.
“The Tri-City Extrusion announcement speaks volumes about so many aspects of economic development and all of it is positive. This project was very competitive and hard-fought, which proves that our best companies are other states’ best prospects, which is why we spend the effort we do on existing industry services. The teamwork of the City of Bristol, BTES, and NETWORKS Sullivan Partnership with our partners at TNECD and TVA was a key factor that led to today’s announcement.” – Sullivan County Mayor Richard Venable
“When competing to bring a new industry to our community, we naturally spend a great deal of time telling our story to fresh ears and orienting prospects to Bristol’s business climate. With industry expansion or retention projects, the reputation of our business policies and culture, and especially of our focus on workforce development, is truly put to the test. As an existing employer, Tri-City Extrusion is already well-acquainted with our business environment. Fortunately, our record as a pro-business, high-quality-of-life city, county and state is a winning one. Just as TCE has built its reputation as the extruder of choice, we believe we are the business location of choice.” – Bristol Mayor Mahlon Luttrell
“TVA and Bristol Tennessee Essential Services congratulate Tri-City Extrusion on its decision to expand operations and create new job opportunities in Sullivan County. It’s always an exciting day when we can celebrate a company’s continued commitment to growth in the region. We are proud to partner with NETWORKS Sullivan Partnership, City of Bristol and the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development to support companies, like TCE, create jobs and investment in the Valley and look forward to its continued business success.” – John Bradley, TVA senior vice president of Economic Development
